Firstly, do not make the mistake of thinking that this will help you get a good job. The economy is in shambles and nobody is hiring. The glamorous industry that fashion designing is, it is still run on the lines of a standard business. If the economy is down and people are not spending money on fashionable clothes and accessories, companies will obviously not be keen on increasing its labor force. Hence, simply watching or participating in fashion reality shows is not going to make it easier for you to get a job.
Fashion reality shows today are less about fashion and more about television ratings. The person editing the content focuses on making it TV friendly. Hence, do not expect to get lots of useful hints and tips about fashion organizations.
Of course, if you do not know anything about such industries, chances are high that you will be impressed by the tough working conditions and the harsh comments that are often put forth as criticism. However, if you are aware that this is how the industry works, chances are high that you will not watch anything new.

However, as your sole activity towards your final goal, this is a very poor attempt indeed. You should be adopting a more hands on approach because that is going to increase your chance of becoming a good designer and making it big in the world.
