Most persons make the mistake of thinking that the fashion is all about looking beautiful. Beauty has nothing to do with fashion. Rather, fashion is all about looking acceptable. Just take a look at the fashion and its origins. Let us go back to the time when civilization was in its infancy and mankind had not made any significant progress.
If you take a look at the ancient civilizations of Mesopotamia and India, you will discover that people followed fashion despite the fact that they were constantly trying to fight for their survival against nature. There were instances of polished stones being strung together to form a necklace. Since mirrors had not been invented, metal was polished to such an extent that it was possible to take a look at one’s own reflection in the same. There is also proof that fashion was followed not just by the elite and rich but also by the poor.
A single person probably started the entire process by creating a necklace or a bangle or any other ornament. Or he or she might have plucked a few flowers and fixed it to the hair to improve appearance. The moment people realized that such a person was getting more compliments, imitation must have followed.
If you are a designer and if you want to make your show a success, it is important to understand human psychology. In most cases, people want to not just look good but also look acceptable to others. This is a reason why fashion tends to follow a similar trend all over the world.
Once people find a particular look that is considered acceptable and good looking, it is copied in various forms and manners all over the world without any delay whatsoever. This was true even before the world became so closely connected as it is today.
